Tour program

Day 1. Welcome to Uzbekistan

Arrival in Uzbekistan. Upon arrival in Tashkent International Airport you will b transferred to your hotel for having some rest.

Day 2. Intro to Tashkent

After breakfast you will start your day trip in Tashkent. Your first impressions in Uzbekistan will be discovering mostly white cars all around and the amazing contrast of people dressed both in pure traditional and modern western styles. In the morning we invite you to visit the most traditional and ancient part of Tashkent where you will visit the old madrsahs, mosques, minarets and mausoleums of Central Asian Silk Road architecture. During the visit you can visit the biggest bazaar of Tashkent – Chorsu Bazaar.

In the afternoon you will continue the visits in the modern part of Tashkent – place Mustakillik Maidoni, the beautiful metro of Tashkent and the park Amir Temur. By the end of the drinks we offer you some tea drinking (maybe beer too!) at a park where talented young painters come to show their artwork in the evenings. 

Overnight in hotel Grand Orzu 3* or similar.

Day 3. Carpet drive to Khiva

After breakfast you will be transferred to the domestic airport of Tashkent to take the flight Tashkent – Urgench (07:50). Arrival in Urgench (09:20) and transfer to Khiva (30km). the Ichan Kala citadel in Khiva is the only fully-conserved citadel of Central Asia and all the others have been seriously damaged by the Russian Tsarist armies by the end of the 19th century. Enjoy you full day to discover  some of the 250+ monuments of the Ichan Kala World  Heritage Site. By the end of the day you will have free time to go to the local bazaar through the Gate of the Slaves, climbing the minarets and observation towers etc.

Overnight in hotel Arkanchi 3* or similar.

Day 4. Road to Bukhara through the Red Desert (450km)

After breakfast you will take long and enjoyable drive towards Bukhara through the desert Kyzylkum. The highlights of the day: encountering some of the rare camels in the desert, enjoying the beautiful panoramic view of the Amu Darya River.

You will arrive in Bukhara by the end of the day. Free time. Overnight in hotel Ziyobaxsh 3* or similar.

Day 5. The Saint Bukhara

Bukhara used to be the biggest Central Asia marketplace for the Silk Road traders and you will really feel it when you see uncountable number of small bazaars and caravanserais all around the old city. Today you will be walking around Bukhara to visit its most wonderful monuments. A bit later we will offer you some coffee (maybe beer!?) at a terrace restaurant where you will have a lovely view of the most elegant architectural complex of the city – Kalon complex. Continue the tour towards the Lyabi Khauz complex. Have a short walk around the monuments of old Bukhara which get more beautiful with the colors of the night. Overnight in hotel Ziyobaxsh 3* or similar.

Day 6. Deep tour into the south to the road of caravans

After breakfast you will take a ride to go to the desert yurt camp (235km) situated near Nurata city. The highlights of the day: visiting the water reservoir of the Silk Road caravans – Sardoba, 2000 year old rock carvings near Nurata, the ruins of a citadel of Alexander the Great and Chashma complex in Nurata. Lunch in a traditional house to enjoy local homemade food.

By the end of the day you will arrive in the desert yurt camp. Today you will have an intro the shocking unique and amazing culture of the Kazakh nation: riding camels, discovering nomadic lifestyle, Kazakh meals, Kazakh music around a campfire… overnight in yurts.

Day 7. Desert trek and the road to Samarkand

After breakfast you can walk to see the biggest lake of the country which is situated in the heart of the desert. We offer you a very educational Trek in the Kyzylkum desert where you will see the varied plants of the desert. Distance of your trek – 8 kilometers, 2-3 hours. Enjoy some free time for swimming, observing the birdlife of the lake AydarkulLunch picnic near the lake.

Drive to Samarkand (255km). You will arrive in Samarkand by the end of the day. Have some rest at your hotel. Overnight in hotel Ideal 3* or similar.

Day 8. Finally, Samarkand

Have some good breakfast and depart for exploring Samarkand. Go to see the golden mausoleum of warlord Tamerlane, the majestic Registan place and its magnificent madrasahs, the Taj Mahal of Samarkand – Bibi Khanum mosque and the fantastic necropolis Shakhi Zinda. After plov and shashlik kebab, somsa is another traditional dish of Uzbekistan and we have chosen the best place for tasting this delicious food of the Uzbeks. At night we will invite you to a Samarkand by Night tour to see a few monuments of the city.

Day 9. The highlight of your trip

In the morning you will be transferred to the Ayaktchi village (110km) for starting your first hiking day. Ayaktchi is a small village far from big noisy cities and in the village you will be accommodate in a Guesthouse. Upon arrival in Ayaktchi you will start an interesting hike towards Albastikol – the lake of demons which is a beautiful place with its small waterfall. You will have lunch – picnic on the road to Albastikol. Dinner and overnight in Guesthouse.

The hike distance – 12 km.

The hike difficulty – easy.

Day 10. Big Trekking day

After breakfast you will depart to a more advanced and longer trek. You will cross the high mountains of Zerafshan for arriving in Samarkand. This will be a very unique trek which was practiced by the caravans for over 2000 years. By the end of the day you will arrive in the Tersak village, in Samarkand region. Lunch picnic. Dinner and overnight in a Guesthouse in Tersak.

Trekking distance – 16 km, 4-6 hours.

Trekking difficulty – medium.

Day 11.  The Last hike and the steppe of Hunger

After breakfast you will follow your local mountain guide to go to the Tersak waterfall. For going to the waterfall you will walk along the village and your hike will be rich in contact with the locals. This can give you a good chance to discover the rural life in Uzbekistan. After your short hike you will return to the Guesthouse where you will have lunch.

Hike distance – 8 kilometers, 2-3 hours.

Hike difficulty – easy.

After the lunch you will take ride towards Tashkent.  Enjoy your last long ride through beautiful mountains and arid lands of Mirzachol which is called Steppe of Hunger. Overnight in hotel Grand Nur 3* or similar.

Day 12. Thank you and Goodbye

In the morning we will organize your transfer to the Tashkent International Airport to take flight …
